Dear “Perfectionist”

Why do you do this to yourself? What makes you think you can’t make mistakes? Why don’t you give yourself enough grace? Grace to not know, grace to burn out knowing you probably took more than you should have, grace to experiment what works & what doesn’t work for you. Grace to know that next time you’ll handle it in a different way. Grace to know that there’s no one way and in the end, “every is figureoutable”. Everything really is. As long as you’re alive, there will be life to figure out so I’m saying this to myself first, free yourself from all the shackles ‘shackling’ you.

“What brought you to this stage might not take you to the next stage. So it is compulsory for the one who wants to succeed to introspect, rectify, and evolve as needed.”

“And so when your mess threatens to hold you back from reaching out to Allah remember that your mess could never match His mercy, your mess could never match His grace, and your mess could never match His forgiveness.”

“Work on your character, increase in good deeds, find your passion and figure out how to use it towards good.”

“Sometimes you find the most enlightenment in emotional exhaustion and deciding: hey this isn’t serving me, I need to make some changes.”

“And Allah (swt) may give it to you through the channels that you sought or through something completely different. It is simply to show you that your rizq is in His Hands.”

“Adopt the mindset of an explorer; healing is the discovery of new spaces within you, realms that were once ignored, areas that are newly flourishing – to be able to traverse all that is you will require patience. Let your healing move organically.”

“So on those days when you’re so close to giving up, when life just keeps getting harder and harder, I want you to remember to just take that one extra step because when you do, you get closer and closer to the morning when the sun begins to rise.”

Give yourself grace. It’s okay to rest, recharge & pause. Show up today, just worry about winning today. Just today.
